So, I warned you all that Thursdays were just not a good day for me. I started off with my usual breakfast of champions, coffee and oatmeal, I even took a picture of it. My oatmeal is extra special because I make it with dark chocolate almond milk and then put in a spoon full of peanut butter at the end, tastes like a no bake cookie! Yumm! So then I went to work where I was actually drinking more water than I usually do, I was really making an effort. Had a couple of slices of cheese towards the end of my shift because I was starving. Oh and I also had a little baggy of those Special K Chips. I did however resist the urge to have some of the baklavah that was being passed around. Then when I went home everything went to hell, there are Reese's Eggs in my house and cookies! Obviously I had some. I did however have a salad for dinner along with a very small (probably normal size but small to me) bowl of leftover macaroni and tomato soup. I am currently trying to force myself to like tea. The health benefits of tea are just so amazing and it's such an easy and good for you drink that I want to like but I just can not seem to get the taste for. I'm sipping on a cup right now and while I don't love it I don't hate it either, I guess that's a step in the right direction? I will just continue to keep trying until I learn to love it! I know I know, I sound like a looser.

A Year Later
Well, it seems like it has been a year since I have last posted on this little blog. I'm going to try this again, hopefully succeeding this time in committing to daily or at least weekly updates. I want to steal an idea from a friend of mine and try to blog a picture or at least make a blog note of everything I eat and how I feel or what's going on when I eat whatever it is I am eating. I want to do this in order to become more conscious of what I am putting into my mouth. Portion control is a huge problem of mine and I do believe that that is what is holding me back from losing weight. I have been going to the gym regularly (except for the past week or so while my mom has been recovering from surgery) and I always try to eat pretty healthfully. The problem is portions and eating too often. Hopefully this can put me in check and help me cut out extra portions and mindful eating.
At my work we are doing a weight loss competition. It's about three months long and we pay 3 dollars a week so at the end the winner will get about 300 dollars. At the beginning I was doing so good and really hardcore about it. I was keeping my eating under control and going to the gym every day and the first week I lost 6 pounds. THAT FELT GOOD. Then things slowed down a little bit. My mom had a double masectomy so that week was shot as I was at the hospital eating that food and people from our church were bringing food over that was yummy but unfortunately not healthy. After she got home and was settled we had some special dinners like take out and unhealthy stuff because that's what she wanted. I obviously indulged in all of this and lost my exercise routine because I wanted to be there for her to help her out and take care of the house. Well now she is almost all better but not quite. It's time for me to jump back on the healthy bandwagon and win this competition! Tomorrow I am going to try my hardest to get the gym, Thursdays are my long and hated day of the week because I work in the morning and go straight to school for the afternoon so it's hard to make time for the gym on that day but I really am going to try tomorrow just so that I can get back into the habit of it. Tomorrow I will also start taking pictures or writing down everything I eat.
Here's hoping that I can keep this up and I will be back tomorrow with another update!

Why can't I keep this up?
Okay so I pretty much suck at being a blogger, it's been what, a week since I have started this blog and have a total of one entry. Well I only have one reader that I know of so I guess it's not that huge of a deal. In health related news, which is what this blog is about, this week has been fantastic. Well starting yesterday and going into today ;) I ran (okay fastly walked) on the treadmill for half an hour yesterday and ate pretty healthfully if I do say so myself. Didn't have any sweets and I did not eat after 6pm except for a cup of blueberries (plain). Today, I attempted to do a Jillian Michaels DVD called No More Trouble Zones, got about half way through it and almost died. I could not even feel anything except the intense fiery burn in my thighs from all the squats she was having me do. Unfortunately I had to turn it off half way through, hey it was intense! Hopefully I can work myself up to doing the entire thing at one time. I ate pretty healthy today, but had a couple cookies too ;) Tomorrow we are going to a memorial service for my great grandma who passed away back in November. Following that we will be meeting with that half of our family who are coming up from S. Carolina for a family picnic at a park. Oh, and did I mention that tomorrow it is supposed to be 105 degrees???? I don't even like 70 degrees and can not stand heat at all, this is going to be miserable.... We don't even like this side of the family! Oh and they pre ordered subs without even consulting with us, there is going to be a major issue if there is not a veg sub there!! Well I promise I'll blog about the exciting events of tomorrow. Ta ta for now! :)

First Blog :)
I never pictured myself being a blogger. I don't really like to talk about myself, pretty self conscious and would much rather observe someone else. So I guess the whole point of this blog is to crack my shell a little, put myself out there and not have so many walls built up around me. Let me start off by telling you a little about myself. My name is Alexa and I am 19 years old. I'm in the middle of my college career and still continuing everyday to find the right career for myself, but that's a whole story in and of itself for another time. I work in retail and pretty much hate it, I love the people I work with but the company is ridiculous. I'm a vegetarian (hopefully one day vegan) and have been for about 6 months now, absolutely love it (will write a whole blog about it later). I'm an overweight health nut. I know I know, how can that be? Well I am constantly researching and educating myself about healthy foods, nutrition, getting fit, excercise, etc. I love learning about how foods affect your body and learning about great excercises. I read all the articles and magazines and follow all the healthy people on twitter. I'm using this blog to inspire myself (and hopefully others) to live a more conscious and healthy life. To think about what I/you are putting into our bodies. To be accountable to excercise and making healthy choices. Everyday I resolve to do these things and after a couple days I always seem to fail. Maybe blogging and communicating with others who are feeling this way or are attempting to also change their lives to more healthful living will help me to stay on track. That's pretty much me and what this blog is about. Anything and everything but mostly about health and fitness.
I'm not sure exactly how all this works, how people even come across a blog that's not written by anyone famous or interesting, but if anyone happens acrossed this blog I hope you enjoy reading it and feel free to leave inspiring comments :)
